Educate, Empower and Uplift Minds

  • ❝ You are deserving of love and compassion, especially from yourself.❞

Uplifting Minds is dedicated to transforming mental health care for South Asian youth through innovative cultural competency training and advocacy. We recognize the unique challenges faced by young Indian men, who experience disproportionate rates of depression and suicide due to cultural stigma, academic pressures, and traditional expectations. Our mission is to bridge the critical gap between mental health professionals and the South Asian community through specialized training programs that empower therapists with deep cultural insights. We partner with healthcare providers, academic institutions, and corporations across Michigan to develop comprehensive cultural competency curricula and professional development initiatives that enhance therapeutic approaches for this underserved population. Our work includes facilitating workshops on cultural expectations and academic pressure, developing evidence-based resources for therapeutic settings, creating professional development programs for organizations, and supporting research initiatives focused on improving mental health outcomes in South Asian youth. Through education, advocacy, and partnerships, Uplifting Minds is committed to breaking down cultural barriers and ensuring that every young person in our community has access to culturally competent mental health care that understands and addresses their unique needs and experiences so they can have tools to thrive.
